NARBAY: WE FOLLOW THE GOODS FROM EDS, NOT EXCEL

Narkon Tekstil General Manager Toygar Narbay answered Enfotek's questions. Narbay said: "it was followed-up how many pieces of goods were cut in the past, but we are now doing this in EDS, not in excel tables," and his statements are as follows:

What is your reason for prefering the EDS System? What were the conditions that led you to buy a system? Did you examine other systems while taking the EDS?

I've looked at other systems. I have examined the production systems of domestic and foreign companies in fairs abroad, I have been examining them for years. I have been following the development of EDS for years, from the very beginning. We can list the reasons why we preferred this system as follows:

User-friendliness of EDS. To tolerate and correct user errors more easily in case of errors that may occur in the business. Because in many systems, the user is penalized when he makes a mistake.

The logical setup of the system is suitable for the operating system I want.

My confidence in the knowledge and experience of EDS administrators. It is very important to have a team in front of me where I can discuss my ideas. Because if the person in front of you knows this business, that is, the production of ready-made garments, you can perceive what you are describing, but if he only looks at it as a programmer, you can argue about how difficult or simple that software is. However, when you know the production or know the requirements of the production, you can convince the person in front of you more easily and you can get managerial suggestions. One of the choices was that the team in front of me knew about the production of apparel, understood and experienced the problems.

Why did you need a system like EDS?

Although cutting, sewing and loading are basic movements in apparel production, everyone does it now. But the world is apart from this. The customer wants what he orders, not the increase in the services of the enterprises, the production with shorter loading deadlines, the quality of the production to meet the entire order, that is, not in the form of missing size, lost size, missing assortment. Therefore, tracking especially in a very fast rotating system, reducing the management costs while doing this is very critifcal now because if you do this manually or follow up, you will eventually have to put more help there. The collection of data, unfortunately, in many businesses, data is only collected, not analyzed or interpreted. Therefore, no precautions are taken for the future, only where and what they did can be determined with a retrospective analysis. But the collection and analysis of data will shed light on the future. This system provides that, so we decided to make this investment. Of course, especially the barcode system and barcode performance tracking system is one of the elements that will increase operational efficiency. First, you can see the losses with the goods movements, secondly the repair rates, you can monitor the second quality rates, third, of course, these are all factors that affect profitability, all production can be traced, efficiency and the decisions you will take are more accurate. Fourthly, following the performance of the staff, retraining the low-performing staff or investigating why their performance is low brings workplace engineering and field engineering to the agenda and allows you to conduct more detailed studies at that point. We decided to buy this system for these reasons.

Which programs did you examine in Turkey, what were the shortcomings of them?

You know that the programs I have examined in Turkey do not fully meet the needs, as I have just said, there are programs that punish the user and are not user-friendly. And you know that you work with a team with a much lower level of education, especially in apparel businesses. Although the department chiefs in our enterprise are people with an engineer background, when you look at the general point of view, many enterprises work with a low-educated team. Therefore, we preferred it to be a program that is simple to perceive by this team, but contains data in detail that can make all the decisions of the management, easy to enter and easy to analyze. I couldn't find exactly what I’ve just mentioned in other programs.

How have you benefited from the EDS system in terms of Order Management, Requirements Planning, Purchasing and Warehouse Management, and Production Tracking?

We follow all production numbers much more easily, of course, the system needs some small software that we know needs to be renewed. But the nice thing is that they are completed very soon after talking about them. For example, a determination is made on a subject such as removing the next stage of the barcode from being readable without reading the previous stage, thus making the system more secure. This may be the need of our business, other businesses may not have such a problem or may not be detected. Therefore, when you report this problem to Enfotek, we can receive feedback very quickly, which is very important. Of course, it is not possible to write something that meets all needs, but in the end, problems are heard, if this is a general problem and this problem cannot be fixed on a system basis, then it is fixed on a software basis. That's the nice thing. There is no approach that we cannot compromise on this program, we have made this program and you will establish an operating system suitable for this program. This is an approach that pleases us.

What are your plans for the future?

Our primary goal is the full use of EDS in the business. We are a company that has just been included in the EDS system. Therefore, it took a period of 3 months to install and run EDS here. Data entry is currently being provided. Our expectation is this; The first is to ensure that the data entry is done correctly, for which the team needs to be trained, and the second is to believe that this data is safe, because we will either put a system moderator or analyst and check the system constantly, or the system will do it by itself. In other words, my goal for the future is to make the system self-check in order to reduce the cost and inform the user that an error has been detected at the following points, please check. If it can do this, in the future, it will also reduce administrative costs, reduce risks and make decisions more accurate.

After all these are done and we start to use EDS in real terms, for this, getting stock reports correctly, pricing correctly, maybe an accounting integration of EDS can be considered after the foundations for transition to cost accounting are laid here. Currently, we plan and keep our production lines in excel tables. Using excel tables in such an electronic environment may be valid for certain things, but for a production program, it is more logical to do this in EDS and integrate it. It is important for us that the planned and realized deadlines can be seen, that there is a living planning, that is, entering some fixed values from the beginning, revealing the disruptions after the user's data entry, and that the system reveals them and warns the management. One of our future expectations from EDS is that the business system should be developed in terms of engineering, as well as integrating it in terms of accounting and finance, because unfortunately, in many enterprises, department managers cannot monitor what their production costs or what they cannot produce. So 10% yield reduction is a number. But what kind of number it is, what does it correspond to, they cannot follow it. Maybe the future direction of the system is that all managers, or at least my managers, have a monetary value, by constantly monitoring this monetary value. And their success is not 10%, but 90%. I produced this today, I had to produce this, or I lost much Money for this, or to follow with my earnings. Thus, it is possible for everyone to establish a cost logic. I believe this will significantly increase the efficiency of the business.

In addition, we plan to integrate with our Istanbul office with the remote access features of EDS. Until today, we’ve received data via telephone, fax and e-mail. Thanks to the authorized multi-user interfaces of EDS, our staff in Istanbul will create the model preparation and order basic information and purchase raw materials directly on EDS, while we will do the planning, warehouse management, production planning and follow-up in our factory in Izmir.

What transactions are you following on EDS right now? How has their traceability changed compared to the past?

How many goods were cut was kept in the past, but now we do this in EDS, not in excel tables. We can get our instant stocks much faster, how much the goods are in our warehouse, so instead of counting over and over again, we saw these information in the system that’s why we saw that it is aliving system. Warehouse management is made much easier, we are completely free from the paper system. We are constantly following up on EDS, this is very important. We can see our instant stocks, this is very important. The speed at which we make certain decisions is increasing. Our speed of providing information to the customer is increasing. We can get cutting, sewing, packaging, quality control data online. This is one of the factors that accelerates the decision-making process related to production. The quality of our customer service has increased. I am currently producing for the second largest company in America. A member of the board of directors of that company's contracted department commented that I have never seen such a business in South America, Central Asia or the Far East. We are just at the beginning of the road, we told them about our dreams. These are not very distant dreams. With the 3rd version, with the EDS.NET project, we will open the data to the customer and enable the customer to see what is happening in the online business. We talked about this, we talked about APM (advanced plan manager) in a meeting.

You had a meeting with a customer about APM, a new product that can work integrated with EDS. Can you evaluate the situation on your behalf and on behalf of your client?

Currently, a second representative from our customer came and we made an appointment for 10:00 after tomorrow. He said he wanted to re-examine APM and EDS. This is a very good relationship for Enfotek. Because the customer's interest in EDS of an actually used business creates a basis for future potential customers of Enfotek, because this customer has production all over the world. The advantage for us is that we are selling our system because everyone is selling their stuff. Everyone in Turkey can make the product we produce. But the important thing is to sell the business's system. We sell the system, the customer pays for this system. Therefore, our gain from these promotions is that the customer, who learns about EDS and learns about the vision of EDS, actually buys the company's system, not the product.

Thank you very much for your information…
